AXION ESTI – performances of the Orchestra Camerata at the Athens Concert Hall
Mikis Theodorakis’ momentous work “AXION ESTI”, in poetry of the Nobel laureate Odysseas Elytis, in its original first version, is being performed by the Athens Camerata – The Friends of Music Orchestra, on the 20th and 21st November 2013, at the Athens Concert Hall MEGARON. Mikis Theodorakis composed the work in Athens and Paris in the years 1960-1963 and since then, it has constituted a milestone in the history of the Greek Nation. Among the great contributors of the performances are the singer Giannis Kotsiras, the baritone Dimitris Platanias and the actor – director Nikos Karathanos as narrator.
The Orchestra is being conducted by the eminent George Petrou, while the City of Athens Choir is being conducted by the well-established Chorus Master Stavros Beris.
