Carmina Burana of Carl Orff at Pallas Theater

The famous work Carmina Burana of Carl Orff was presented on November 13th 2015 at Pallas Theatre, Athens, by the Athens Municipal Choir under the direction of Stamatis Beris.
The scenic cantata composed by Carl Orff in 1935-1936 is based on the medieval collection of poems with the title Carmina Burana: Cantiones profanæ cantoribus et choris cantandæ comitantibus instrumentis atque imaginibus magicis (Songs of Beuern: Secular songs for singers and choruses to be sung together with instruments and magic images). The work was performed in a reduced version for soloists, SATB mixed choir, children's choir, two pianos and percussion, as it was prepared by Orff's disciple Wilhelm Killmayer in 1956.

The performance of CARMINA BURANA in the version for two pianos and percussion was exceptionally permitted upon special arrangement with the publisher Schott Music who provided the music material and its representative The Artbassador.
