ILAN VOLKOV & ATHENS STATE ORCHESTRA: ATHENS TECTONICS FESTIVAL
16 June 2017- 18 June 2017 The Tectonics Festival in Athens!
The Tectonics Festival ‘’travelled’’ in Glasgow, New York, Oslo, Reykjavik Adelaide and Tel Aviv. This initiative of the distinctive maestro Ilan Volkov, began on 2012 in Island and brings together various and seemingly opposite music practices.
In the ‘’Athenian’’ edition, the symphonic music, the free improvisation, the electronic noise, the chamber music and the traditional music, coexist, collide and balance in an adventurous three-day festival from 16 to 18 June 2017.
The famous Israeli MO Illan Volkov conducted the Athens State Orchestra and the well-known guitarist and improviser Fred Frith who performed works by Giannis Christou, Morton Feldman and Giannis Kiriakidis.
For the concert of the Athens State Orchestra in the frame of the Tectonics Festival, the Artbassador provided the Orchestra with the music material of the work THE TURFAN FRAGMENTS FOR ORCHESTRA by Morton Feldman, on behalf of the Publishing House Universal Edition AG.
