KRZYSZTOF PENDERECKI – La follia

The composer, violinist and conductor Krzysztof PENDERECKI celebrated a landmark on 23th November 2013, his 80th birthday. As part of the celebrations, Anne-Sophie Mutter gave the world premiere of his new work “La follia”, a capriccio for violin solo, on 14th December 2013 in New York City. “La Follia” is in fact Penderecki’s musical gift to Anne-Sophie Mutter, who had little before celebrated also a notable birthday. The work demands high technical  mastery and at the same time gives the greatest musical fulfillment.

Also in connection with the celebrations of Penderecki’s 80th birthday, a PENDERECKI FESTIVAL took place in Seoul, from 16 to 20 December, 2013. Among the performances of his works, the audience had the chance to hear Penderecki’s two violin concertos, his “Symphony no 7” and “Seven Gates of Jerusalem”.
