Tennessee Williams' epic masterpiece premiered in New York (1947), directed by Elia Kazan, winning the Pulitzer Prize and establishing the American dramatist as one of the world’s most important playwrights.

Since then, it has been produced innumerable times around the world and is considered one of the most critically acclaimed plays of the 20th century.
