40 YEARS AFTER THE EVENTS AT POLYTECHNIC, “LET’S STAND UP A LITTLE HIGHER ...”
On Sunday the 17th November 2013, the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Ioannina and the University of Ioannina made a performance dedicated to the anniversary of the events at Polytechnic School, with poems set to music by Mikis Theodorakis. The Symphonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Ioannina, the choir of the Municipal Conservatory and the Choir of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women have participated in it.
Soloists: Voice, Ioanna Forti and Charis Andrianos, in piano: Tatiana Papageorgiou and in bouzouki: Manolis Gerostathis. The Orchestra was conducted by Fivos Papadopoulos. The performance took place at the Hall of Archbishop Spyridon.
Memories from the events at Polytechnic School revived through the poems of the great Greek poets George Seferis and Iakovos Kabanellis “EPIPHANY – AVEROFF” and “MAUTHAUSEN”, set to music by Mikis Theodorakis.
The concert ended with a selection of songs from “Songs of the struggle”, also composed by Mikis Theodorakis.
“THE ARTBASSADOR” supplied the Orchestra and the Choir with the music material of the works “EPIPHANY – AVEROFF” and “MAUTHAUSEN”, on behalf of the Publisher SCHOTT MUSIC.
