New Year’s Gala

The Athens State Orchestra in co-production with the Athens Concert Hall, will celebrate in a big festive concert on the 30th December at the Athens Concert Hall, the coming of the New Year! Under the music direction of Lukas Karytinos and with the participation of the soloists Nina Koufochristou, Artemis Bogri and Vassilis Kavagias, the Athens State Orchestra will perform arias and orchestral excerpts by Mozart, Rossini, Offenbach, Bernstein, Gershwin etc.

The Artbassador provided the Orchestra with the music material of Leonard Bernstein’s works : CANDIDE - OVERTURE (STANDARD CONCERT VERSION), CANDIDE – GLITTER AND BE GAY (1956, rev.1982), MAMBO FROM WEST SIDE STORY FOR ORCHESTRA, CHA CHA FROM WEST SIDE STORY, BALCONY SCENE [DUET] NO 6 FROM WEST SIDE STORY (TONIGHT) (1957), TONIGHT, QUINTET FOR 5 SOLO VOICES AND ORCHESTRA NO 10 FROM WEST SIDE STORY και SOMEWHRE (NO 13) FROM WEST SIDE STORY, on behalf of the Publishing House  BOOSEY & HAWKES and with the music material of George Gershwin’s work STRIKE UP THE BAND, on behalf of the Publishing House SCHOTT Music.
